Aesthetic Dentistry

A radiant smile and healthy-looking teeth are an increasingly desired aspect of personal appearance

Thanks to modern technologies, we can now treat teeth so that they last a lifetime, while also enhancing their appearance so that you are completely satisfied with the result.

Aesthetic dentistry brings together all dental disciplines that help patients achieve a beautiful smile and feel better about themselves.

Aesthetic correction of tooth color, shape, and position

Aesthetic dentistry includes everything from dental hygiene to correction of tooth color, shape, and alignment: aesthetic fillings (photocomposite fillings, or so-called white fillings), prosthetic work such as ceramic veneers, metal-ceramic or ceramic crowns, orthodontic treatment with braces, implant treatment, periodontal procedures to improve the gums, and teeth whitening performed by a dentist or through at-home whitening.

What is a veneer?

A veneer is a thin ceramic shell bonded to the tooth. Under local anesthesia, a thin layer of the tooth is gently prepared. An impression is then taken, and thin ceramic veneers are fabricated in a dental laboratory. These are later bonded to the teeth in the clinic using a special cement.

Veneers can be used to restore minor loss of hard dental tissue, improve aesthetic imperfections in the tooth’s shape and color, and correct other defects caused by developmental changes. A properly selected veneer can help transform a patient’s entire smile.

What is a crown?

If a tooth is severely and irreversibly damaged, we prepare a crown. We offer all-ceramic as well as metal-ceramic crowns (reinforced with a metal framework). The optical properties of both materials are highly aesthetic. By choosing a shade as close as possible to the patient’s natural tooth color, crowns can closely resemble the appearance of the original teeth.

Teeth whitening:

Whitening can achieve long-term lightening of the natural shade of the teeth. Tooth darkening is mainly caused by pigments from foods and beverages, most commonly black tea, coffee, cola, red wine, smoking, and even the use of antibiotics. Color differences can also be caused by increased fluoride intake—dental fluorosis. A typical sign is the presence of chalky white spots on an otherwise normally colored tooth.

In-office whitening (under a doctor’s supervision)

During in-office whitening, we apply a special whitening gel to the tooth enamel and leave it in place for a certain period of time. The gel is then rinsed off. The procedure is repeated on the other jaw. The result always depends on the quality of the enamel, the way oral hygiene is maintained, and the effect of external pigments on the teeth (for example smoking, coffee, tea, etc.).

At-home whitening

Based on an impression of your teeth, we produce thin custom trays in the laboratory. Whitening gel is then placed into the trays with a syringe. The trays are pressed firmly onto your teeth and, depending on the need, may be worn for several hours or overnight. If you are not satisfied with the shape, alignment, or color of your teeth, our dentists will be happy to recommend a suitable and reasonably priced way to improve your smile.
