This September, Prague will become one of the most important hubs of global dentistry. From September 4–7, 2026, the city will host the FDI World Dental Congress 2026, jointly organized by the FDI World Dental Federation and the Czech Dental Chamber. The congress will bring dentists, researchers, expert speakers, and industry representatives from around the world to the Czech capital.
This international event will be much more than a standard professional meeting. According to the FDI, it will be four days of education, inspiration, networking, and sharing the latest innovations that are transforming oral healthcare. Prague will thus gain a prominent position on the global dental map and confirm its importance as a host city for prestigious professional events.
One of the main themes of the congress will be artificial intelligence in dentistry. The program will focus on how AI is entering everyday clinical practice, especially in diagnostics and clinical decision support. The FDI states that the congress will address the use of AI in detecting caries, endodontic pathologies, and bone loss in periodontal disease, as well as issues related to clinical data quality, the reliability of these systems, and preserving the dentist’s professional judgment.
Advanced surgical technologies and robotics will also attract considerable attention. The program is expected to include robot-assisted implantology, including discussion of accuracy, costs, required training, and long-term evidence. This point clearly shows that the future of dentistry is no longer a distant vision, but is gradually becoming part of real clinical practice.
Another strong theme of the congress is the effort to preserve natural teeth for as long as possible. According to the FDI, the scientific program will focus on modern conservative approaches, vital pulp therapy, current endodontic techniques, and biological and material innovations that enable more gentle treatment. Complex decisions between preserving a tooth and implant rehabilitation will also be in the spotlight.
An important part of the event will also be the FDI Young Dentists Forum, which will open the discussion on building a sustainable long-term career in dentistry. The program will cover work-life balance, resilience to stress, and burnout prevention. This is a clear sign that modern dentistry today is concerned not only with technologies and procedures, but also with the quality of professional life of dentists themselves.
At the same time, the FDI points out that interest in the Prague congress is already exceptional. The organization reports a record 1,522 submitted abstracts from 74 countries and participant interest from more than 84 countries. This confirms that Prague will be one of the world’s most important places for sharing new knowledge in dentistry in 2026.
